How to keep an expired supplier quote out of a directory comparison

A quote can remain indexed after currency, raw material cost or availability changes. A buyer may mistake a historical price for a current offer.

Capture the issue date, expiry date, currency, product revision, quantity breaks and any assumptions. When the period ends, ask for a refreshed written quote before using the price for a decision.

If a reviewer took an action, record that action rather than a general “verified” label. Reopen the source when the transaction or underlying document changes.

Where the inference stops

An old quote can be useful historical context, but it is not a present commitment. Do not silently roll its price into a current comparison or imply that the supplier will still honour it.
