Who issues an ISO certificate? A source check for directory editors
A supplier may display the ISO logo beside the word “certified.” Directory copy can accidentally imply that ISO itself inspected the factory or issued the certificate.

A field-level check
Use ISO's certification explanation as a boundary check: identify the external certification body on the supplier's document and check the holder, site, standard, scope and validity through a suitable issuer route.
Write down the exact field, the party that supplied the information, the original document or page, the date seen and the scope of the check. If a reviewer took an action, record that action rather than a general “verified” label. Reopen the source when the transaction or underlying document changes.
Where the inference stops
Do not cite an ISO standards page as proof of a named supplier's certification. A certificate image without an issuer or readable scope cannot support a broad badge.
