What a CIF quote does not tell you by itself
A CIF label can look like an all-in price. Without the exact named destination and a breakdown, the buyer cannot see every cost or obligation relevant to its shipment.
What the primary source can establish

A field-level check
Record the ICC term and named place, then request a written list of included freight, insurance and destination charges. Have the logistics or legal reviewer compare the offer with the shipment plan and the complete contract.
Write down the exact field, the party that supplied the information, the original document or page, the date seen and the scope of the check. If a reviewer took an action, record that action rather than a general “verified” label. Reopen the source when the transaction or underlying document changes.
Where the inference stops
Do not infer product insurance adequacy, customs clearance or total landed cost from the three letters alone. Those questions require the actual policy, route, charges and agreement.
A missing answer is a question to resolve, not permission to substitute a guess. Separate a statement by the supplier from a public record and from a documented human review. No source in this article proves a quality ranking or an existing buyer relationship.
What to record before deciding
Keep CIF as one quote field and list unresolved cost lines separately. Do not present a “delivered price” in the directory unless all included and excluded charges are documented.
